For generations, people with Scrupulosity OCD were punished for “blasphemous thoughts,” told to pray, or seen as having a “moral lacking." This suffering was tortuous for individuals, as they did not actually have a faith problem – they had an OCD problem. In this talk we will review the origins of scrupulosity, from the basics of sin to the various presentations of scrupulosity across faiths; learn to identify scrupulosity as an OCD issue and not a faith issue, and leave with a better understanding of how to help your patients with scrupulosity OCD using exposure and response prevention (ERP). The course will include case examples and time with the presenter to ask questions.
