The accessibility of mobile and/or smartphones has become commonplace in society, prompting concerns related to excessive use. Due to growing concerns regarding recognized and unrecognized implications of smartphone use, efforts have been made to evaluate, label, and identify problematic behaviors through the development and administration of assessment tools. Researchers found that many published scales lack sufficient internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Future research aimed at the characterization of problematic smartphone use to more efficiently develop psychological assessments is essential.
